Chief Minister, Meghalaya, Dr. Mukul M Sangma, flagged off the Chief Minister’s Livestock Mission in South Garo Hills. He laid the foundation stone for a new Multi Facility Centre under the Chokpot Civil Sub-Division at Warima and the event was attended by Bluebell R Sangma, Chairman of the Meghalaya State Development Reforms Commission and local MLA, Deputy Commissioner in-charge of South Garo Hills, Ashish M Sangma and ZJ Sangma, SDO (Civil), Chokpot along with other dignitaries.
Speaking at the event held on the 25th of November, 2017, Dr. Sangma stated that the Government had already sanctioned an amount of Rs.1,400 crore for development projects under MGNREGS. He talked of how funds had been allotted from the Chief Minister’s Piggery and Livestock Mission for this region and the beneficiary count has been increased under the Chokpot Sub-Division to 2,000 households from 500 earlier. Dr. Sangma also urged citizens to refrain from any activities like extortion, threatening and other anti-establishment moves and also asked for more cooperation with regard to executing developmental projects. He also congratulated Government officials for their services to the region in spite of several dangers and obstacles.
Dr. Sangma also promised a new Community College for the Sub-Division, directing local leaders to choose the apt location for the same. Bluebell R Sangma, MSDRC Chairman and local MLA, thanked the Chief Minister for his untiring efforts to usher in development for citizens in this region. Ashish M Sangma, Deputy Commissioner, in-charge of South Garo Hills, delivered the welcome address and stated how 1,007 piggery sheds have received sanction in the present financial year. Cheques were also given by Chief Minister Sangma to beneficiaries of the Chief Minister’s Livestock Mission. ZJ Sangma, SDO (Civil), presided over the event and Diganto Hajong, the BDO, Chokpot, delivered the vote of thanks.
