Dr. Mukul M. Sangma, the Chief Minister of Meghalaya along with the DIG, Western Range, O Passi laid the foundation stones for the road construction on 2nd December at Jamge UP School, comprising metalling with black topping, the 2∙70 km road from NH 127 (B) at Jamge and 1∙00 Kms. road from Songsak Agal to Napak on the same national highway. It falls under Songsak C&RD Block.
At the foundation stone ceremony, the Chief Minister explained that connectivity of roads is the backbone of any country in terms of thriving trade and commerce. With this new road construction, he pointed out the adjacent villages in the area will get inter-connected with the national highway. Dr. Sangma also highlighted that road construction will enhance the significance of the villages in the area, helping locals to get an easy access to better road communication.
While talking about developing and endorsing state tourism, the minister stated that the potential of nearby villages and remote places will get improved in terms of tourism and thereby improve the inter-communal relationship. Additionally, the Chief Minister requested the local residents to pay special attention to plantations, gardening, etc. which will eventually preserve the natural environment of the surroundings. Side by side, he also made certain that road construction work will be completed on time.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, SK Marak gave the welcome speech and Additional Chief Engineer, PWD (Roads) GK Marak proposed the vote of thanks on the occasion.
